Free Indeed!

It's been a couple days since I had the privilege of sharing God's word on the topic of "forgiveness" this past weekend.

It was an amazing experience to see the impact of God's Word on the hearts of people as hundreds went to one of the crosses that we'd set up in the sanctuary where they wrote the names of people they needed to forgive in order to fully receive the forgiveness of God toward themselves! (Matt. 6:15)

Over the past 48 hours I've probably had 20-30 individual stories of people confronting very paralyzing situations where they'd been unable to forgive someone who had hurt them. In case after case, they reported that once they wrote that name on a card and put it in the basket under the cross that they felt "a load being lifted." They were "free indeed"!

This was an experience that we had prayed would happen during our worship services, but this is something that anyone can do at any time. The forgiveness of Jesus is simply a matter of yielding to His lordship and trusting Him to be the One who will bear that burden of judgment that only He can justly fulfill. (Romans 12:17-18)

And so be encouraged that you too can be "free indeed" as you extend forgiveness, led by God's Spirit.

Blessings,

Dr. Jay
