In a recent conversation, a member of the church commented on the fact that there are lots of different ways to reach your goals in today’s world.
This is true in secular pursuits but it’s also true in the ministry world. It used to be that someone needed to have a seminary degree and a certain amount of validation by established bureaucracies in order to be seen as a bonafide “minister”. Those days have changed. In fact, in many circles, “real life” education is seen as preferred because it keeps the heart in touch with the needs of real people and hungry to learn more outside of the classroom.
So if you’re feeling a nudge towards a specific ministry, there may be a number of ways you can get there. Seminary (like the classes we offer here at North Way from Trinity) can be an option, but you can also invest your life into others, show initiative by serving, and simply just “know your stuff” through careful reading and research All of these ways can get you to a place of fruitful ministry.
Blessings!
